LOAM AND COMPOST

LOAM

image36

Loam soil is a mixture of soil that is the ideal plant-growing medium. This enables you to grow almost any type of plant without having to add too much to the soil. The different-sized particles leave spaces in the soil for air and water to flow and roots to penetrate. The roots feed on the minerals in the suspended water. As loam doesn't dry out in the summer or get waterlogged in winter, it is an ideal soil all year round.

COMPOST

image37

Compost is organic matter that has been decomposed in a process called composting. This process recycles various organic materials otherwise regarded as waste products and produces a soil conditioner.  Compost is rich in nutrients and is beneficial for the land in many ways, including as a soil conditioner, a fertilizer, and as a natural pesticide for soil. It is also useful for erosion control, land and stream reclamation and wetland construction.

STONE DUST, SAND, CHIPS

STONE DUST

Stone dust is like a coarser version of sand. Stone dust is widely used as a setting bed for any of the various types of stone pavers (flagstone pavers such as bluestone being an example) used by homeowners in small projects. It can be smoothed to create a very flat surface and it is strong enough to support the weight of stone pavers.

BEACH SAND

Silica Beach Sand  – good for beach entries, volleyball courts, horse shoe pits, bocce courts, play boxes and more.

ROUGH CHIPS

Clean, hardwood chips suitable for use in play areas or in landscaping; natural wood color; will change as it weathers.

STONE AND GRAVEL

1/2" BLUE CHIP

Blue Chip is a unique blend of 1/2” washed chips that range in color from light blues and greys. This gravel is widely used as a final base material for patios, compacted rock driveways and pathways.

3/4" STONE

A gray stone used for driveways, asphalt, and concrete mixes. Serves as a great base for foundations and drainage systems.

3/8" PEA STONE

Pea stone will effectively fill shaped spaces in your landscape; ideal for walkways and paths. For best results when using this material, one should place a weed-barrier fabric under the pea gravel.  The fabric allows water to reach the soil but blocks the light that weeds need to grow.

1-1/2" ROUND STONE

Naturally round with varying shades of caramel, this stone is foot friendly.  Best used in walkways, driveways and pool areas.

3" - 6" EROSION STONE
